Soil in Occupier: what it is and how a match pays it out

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Every island you hold can make troops, soil, or a mix of both. Soil never fights, but the winner of a match collects all the soil made in it, and soil is a resource you spend outside the match. This guide explains the rules; the next one is about how to make the most of them.

Three production modes

Select one of your islands during a match and a small panel with three buttons appears: Army, Half and Soil. Army is the default, and the island turns all its production into troops. Soil turns all of it into soil. Half splits it evenly, so the island grows troops at half speed and makes soil at half speed.

The change takes effect for every player at the same moment, like a move. An island can change its mode at most once every couple of seconds, so you cannot flip it back and forth to dodge a threat.

Where soil is kept

Soil is not a unit on the map. It goes into your own pool, shown next to your name in the players panel, so it cannot be attacked, intercepted or lost when an island falls. What you have made stays yours for the match.

The rate is the same as for troops: the island size and your production upgrade decide how fast an island makes it. An island on Soil makes exactly as much soil per second as it would have made troops.

Who gets the soil

When the match ends, the winner receives the soil produced by every player, rivals included, on top of the usual prizes. Everyone else gets none. In a match against the computer, the enemies only make troops, so the pool is made of your own soil.

The amount is rounded down to whole units and has a ceiling per match, currently 50, so it cannot be farmed without winning. Soil is added to your profile and shown on the result screen.

What changes when an island is captured

The new owner keeps the island but it goes back to Army mode. Whoever takes it chooses a mode of their own. An island on Soil that falls therefore stops making soil for you at once, and does not start making it for the attacker unless they switch it.
